Hi, you're here because you've changed podcast hosts or changed the url and you want to make sure RadioPublic is pointing to the right location. Great news! Updating the link to your podcast is all within your control and that means no waiting on us to make changes for you.
Setup a redirect
All reputable podcast hosting providers will honor podcast link redirects. Setting up a redirect helps you keep your existing subscribers and listeners. Changing the link to your podcast without a redirect means anyone who had the old link will no longer get updates about new episodes. You will lose subscribers and see a drop in your downloads.
You can get in touch with each podcast listening app and hope that they will update the link, but the proper way to ensure you don't lose subscribers is to set up the redirect at the source, your podcast hosting company.
So, contact your old podcast host and tell them you are switching to a new podcast hosting company and want to setup a "301 redirect" that points your old feed to your new feed.
Update your old feed
In addition to setting up the redirect you'll want to add the itunes:new-feed-url tag to your old feed using your podcast host dashboard and point it to the new feed location. You'll want to add something like this to your old feed:
<itunes:new-feed-url>http://www.myfeedurl.com/rss.xml</itunes:new-feed-url>
What about RadioPublic?
After you've added the redirect and new-feed-url RadioPublic will detect the new location of the feed and update our systems.
